Episode 34 - Jules' Eyes
Friday: mid-afternoon
'I'm blind!!! I'm blind!!!' Jules began to scream. Helen held onto her. The doctor grabbed the thrashing Jules and yelled at her to calm down. She examined her now open eyes.
'Ya twit, of course you can't see. There is still ointment in them,' the doctor snapped. 'Let me wash them out a bit more before you go buying a guide dog!' She irrigated them and gently swabbed away the gelatinous salve. Jules blinked the water out of her eyes. She squinted around the room.
'I can see!!! I can see!!!' she shouted gleefully. 'Oh my god, Helen, you are more beautiful than I imagined.'
Helen coughed beside her. Jules was staring at her doctor, who was blushing furiously. Lee covered her mouth to stifle the snigger. Jules turned to Helen,
'Oh..sorry. Fuckin' dark in here.' she apologised. Helen smiled and they embraced.
The doctor gave Jules explicit instructions to take it easy and to keep away from bright lights. She would be allowed to go home in the morning after having some optical tests. Jules nodded obediently. She left, taking the tray of instruments and gauze with her.
Jules cuddled Helen, telling her how glad she was to finally meet her. She asked her questions about the trip.
'I hope Lee has been taking good care of you, Helen?' Jules said, 'She can be a bit cranky at times.' Lee gave her an icy stare which quickly turned in to a grin. She couldn't be mad at her.
'I'll take good care of you while your poor little eyes mend, poppet,' Helen crooned as she stroked Jules' hair. Jules purred like a kitten. Lee felt nauseous.
'Do you need anything, Jules?' Lee asked, feeling like the odd one out.
'Yeah,' Jules chirped, 'some choccy's. Nan brought some in but I think one of the bitch nurses stole em.' Lee was thinking more along the lines of clothes but she said she'd pop down to the vending machine. Helen stopped her.
'I'll go. I have to visit the little grrls room anyway.' she said, picking up her handbag. She strode out of the room while Lee and Jules stared at her arse.
'Remember me?' Lee said with a grin. Jules smiled at her,
'Oh isn't she just divine, Lee?'
'Yes,' Lee agreed, 'Helen seems lovely.'
'Yeah, she's cool,' Jules said off handedly, 'but isn't that doctor a FOX!!!'
