GLBT Papers

The Melbourne Star Observer & B News can be collected free from the South West TAFE Student Association office. We are hoping that local cafes and bookstores might also be interested in becoming a "pick up" point for these papers. If you produce a publication that you would like to make available to GLBT people in the south west, send us an email to the address provided on the Contact Us page.

Sources tell us that "Blue" and "DNA" (magazines for gay men) can be purchased from Rogers Newsagency, Koroit Street, Warrnambool.

Local GLBT Radio Show

"Snapper Jack" & "Rainbow Trout Mouth", two of the funniest lesbian fish in town, bring you your weekly dose of GLBT news, reviews and opinion on their show The Lesbian Fish Tank. Tune in to 3WAY (no! we're not kidding, it's called 3-way!!) 107.3 FM 7-8pm every Thursday.

Deakin University Queer Space

Deakin University Warrnambool Campus, located 3kms to the east of the city, has a queer space dedicated to the needs of GLBT students in the area. Here you'll find publications, information about regional and national support organisations, free safe sex packs and lots of other goodies! It's also a safe place to stop, relax and recharge, with a mini-fridge, toaster and tea and coffee making facilities.

SSAFE in the South West Project

Safe in the South West stands for Same Sex Attracted Friendly Environments. At present there is an ongoing study taking place to research the resources and services needed for same sex attracted people in the south west region. To contact the Project Worker go to the Contacts page.
